Jose Rizal is my countries National hero. He led or was at the forefront of anti-spanish propaganda. Although his ideals were not actually of freedom and liberation and independence, he did campaign that we become a province and not a colony of spain. He thought it would have been best for everyone involved. He despised the friars and wrote vehemently against them in such novels like Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo
